I'm probably one of the first to have this model installed in my area. I do a lot of baking and Asian steam cooking so I was really happy to see F&P come out with a larger steam oven. We bought 8 different F&P appliances for our home and other than our dishwashers and induction cooktop, this is my most used appliance, certainly my most used oven. So far, mostly good, but there are a few gripes. 1) after about 20 minutes of steaming at full power, we get a "steam generator overheating" warning and it shuts itself down. I tried running it at a slightly lower temp with the same issue. I haven't had this issue with the convection-steam functions 2) if I set it to steam proof, there is only 1 temp setting of 95F. Sorry, but butter melts at that temp so my croissants start melting and I can't use it. It would be nice to be able to bring the temp down to 85-86F like other countertop steam ovens on the market. 3) Cleaning out the inside is a little bit of a pain. You have to remove the grates to get down in there because I left it in once and tried jamming my hand in there with a rag and there are little sharp edges that scrape you if you're not careful. It would have been nice to have some sort of removable drip trap or pan at the bottom to make clean up easier. 4) removing the water tank inevitably creates a mess as the tank has a little resistance to being pulled out. You have to give it a little tug, but there's no cap on the opening of the tank so the water sloshes out and spills down the front of the appliance and down your cabinets. It's not as much of an issue if the tank is "empty" but even when the appliance forces you to refill, there's still a good 20-30% of the water volume in there. 5) the included pans warp when using the convection-steam functions at 320F. This happens with many thin metal pans, but I expected something more sturdy with the price you pay for the unit. I've tried looking for other trays that can fit into the rack rails but haven't been able to find something yet.
The good things:
1) Again, it's my most used oven. I love having the steam function and most of the time I don't need it at full power for more than 15 min.
2) the size is great compared to many other units on the market. I can put multiple dishes in there at a time. I've had 3 racks of shallow pans before without much issue.
3) it looks great and matches my speed oven.
Overall I'm still glad we have it and love using it, but it has its quirks. F&P, if you're listening, can we get a firmware update to allow proofing down to 85F? Same with the induction ranges please!
