The unit was a part of the kitchen set in our new home in 2007. After 13 years of great use, it died. I'll be looking to purchase the same or similar because of the space, heating and simple buttons.

We've used ours for over 10 years without incident, and fully expected to use it for years to come. However, after mistakenly letting it run for 15 minutes with nothing inside, it over-heated and shut off completely - no power. Given the age of the unit and the expected cost to repair, we will likely opt to replace this with a newer GE model microwave. The choice of GE is in part due to our past experience, but is also influenced by the fact that it sits above a GE oven, and has some similarity in appearance. A Consumer Reports research will be involved as well, so the jury isn't completely in yet.

I realize that this model hasn't been made in several years but I want to sing it's praises. Ours is 16 years old and was just retired due to upgrading ALL appliances. 16 years of regular use. I did replace the turntable gear and a few light sockets over the years, but WOW, what a workhorse it was. If you see one of these for sale used (even 16 years old) and are in the market for a used one, buy it! I like the new one but I'll sure miss ol' faithful. Thanks for the great product, GE!
