Very quiet and powerful. We haven't had it long enough to rate reliability.

I originally saw this during an episode of This Old House, when one of the guys was touring the factory. He was being shown how they were tested using wood blocks and rocks. He was asked to activate the test for each, which produced sawdust and the equivalent of concrete powder. All while being extremely quiet! I figured this would be a great replacement for the unit that was in the house we recently bought. Our disposal sounded like there was a cat stuck in it when we turned it on. (sorry for the visual). I haven't put any wood blocks or rocks down it, but knowing it could handle them is good enough for me. Suffice it to say this was a great purchase and worth every penny!!

Every house we buy…and this is our 7th, we put in a garbage disposal. It makes a world of difference and Insinkerators tend to be best performing and quietest. It also has this cool feature when you run it dry and think you burned it up, you can just hit the reset button and it works again. Always remember to use water when you run it though…can't be good for it..:) With each house we have also gotten the latest model and over the course of 20 years, we have seen great get better. Our newest one is super quiet, we easy to install and works consistently. We also always get the push button air pressure control because it's easy to mount on the sink and make cleaning quick.
