KitchenAid KCIG550JBL Features
Sensor Induction Technology
Generates heat directly within cookware, reaching high temperatures quickly and cooling down rapidly for precise control that enables a full range of cooking techniques.
Auto Presets For Melt, Simmer, Keep Warm And Boil
Automatically set the right heat for different techniques and stages of cooking, taking the guesswork out of choosing settings.
Power Boost Function
Allows you to exceed the maximum heat-level setting for 5 minutes, to help you get to a rapid boil
Touch-activated Controls
For assisted cooking modes, auto presets and numerical power settings are simple to use. The seamless design is also easy to clean.
Pan Size Detection
Recognizes the size and placement of cookware to generate heat directly within the pan. An indicator light and sound will alert you if you turn the cooktop on without a pan on the selected element or if your pan is not compatible with induction cooking.
Control Lock
Disables cooking mode for easy cleaning when not in use.
Frameless Design
Allows flush installation for a seamless look or standard installation to fit an existing cooktop cutout.
Requires Induction-compatible Cookware
Such as multi-ply stainless steel, enamelled steel or cast iron. Aluminum and copper cookware will not work unless it has a base made of iron or steel. Look for pans marked "Works with Induction" or test to see if a magnet will stick to the bottom.

This cooktop replaced my old KitchenAid cooktop that I bought in 2013. I really like the new automatic settings! They work great! I like having five elements on the new cooktop, the old one only had four. I like the larger one being in the middle of the cooktop. I liked a couple of things on the old cooktop better. On the older version, the digital display was brighter and there was a Power Off button for the entire cooktop. The new cooktop works great, just like the old version.

I love my new KitchenAid cooktop. It cooks much quicker, so I can have meals ready sooner. Encourage everyone to purchase an induction cooktop--it is worth the cost!
