Best investment I made in my gut reno

This dryer works, well. We have had it for a few months now and only one time did it not fully dry on the first cycle and that load was full of towels. The story of non vented dryers being subpar is a myth now. It's also got the features and specs on dryer 2/3rds more expensive. It also looks great.

Acceptable Heat Pump Condensing Dryer

Purchased a month ago. Really, other than Miele, the only option if you are looking for a condensing heat pump dryer. I own an AEG heatpump dryer 8000 series at my home in NZ. This is not offered here. It allows me to compare. The initial quality was not 100% perfect which makes me think Samsung has very poor quality control. Mine arrived with a high pitched whistling noise. My AEG dryer is silent. Samsung sent DISH TV to repair the unit. They found the problem, a bad foam gasket around a cover. It was replaced and the noise is much better. I will have them put additional tape around the gasket to complete the repair. I also was not happy with the amount of lint reaching the condenser foils. Much more than my AEG. I feel that some sort of a filter should be included in front of the foils. It was relatively easy to clean with a tooth brush and vacuum hose. If you put the dryer on top of the washer, it would be easier. As far as drying, the AEG is much better. I think that the amount of heat is too much in the Samsung dryer. With a heat pump you don't need as much heat. This means these dryers are very gentle on your clothes. Other than that, it does an amazing job drying. Yes, you can get your clothing completely dry. However, you can change the setting to allow your clothing or towels to come out a bit damp. This is good if you are going to iron, right after drying. The AEG has 5 dryness settings and I think it does a better job. I am satisfied with this Samsung, but not many choices in the American market. The on off button, a touch sensor not a button, is overly sensitive. They should have included this as a push button as the on off button will switch if you get too close to it. It is a pain. It is a good dryer and better than any other condensing dryer without the heat pump and much better than a vented dryer. If you place this dryer near a drain or sink, there is a very easy included tube to change the unit to drain directly into a drain or your existing washer drain. Your washer drain and the dryer tube will fit. If you want to put this dryer where there is no access to a drain, the water will collect in a drawer in the top left and is easily taken out and emptied. I switched the door very easily with a simple socket tool and Philips head screw driver. Just pay attention to how the rubber gasket is put on. Take pictures with your phone if necessary. The technology of the heat pump condensing dryer is amazing. Bosch AEG and many others sell tons of these in markets outside the US. You have few options here in the US. Samsung dropped the ball with the initial quality of the unit and this unit is not the quality of Miele or the unit I have in NZ. However, I would recommend you get this dryer. Don't let the size fool you, it does not need the same amount of space as a vented dryer to do the job. It is easy on your clothes. I think this unit is a good value. Remember, a condensing dryer is different from a heat pump condensing dryer. I have had both. I would only recommend a heat pump condensing unit. You need no vent with this unit and it is great for small spaces. It is quiet. I like the design of the 2 stage dryer filter in this unit, similar to my AEG. It looks good with the matching washer. The dryer can go on top of the washer. You don't need any fancy connectors to do this. Yes, the drum is a bit lower than a larger size dryer. I recommend the GE washer/dryer vibration damper feet to give you an extra inch and a half of height if you units are on the floor.

Expensive dryer that doesn't last

Had this for less than 3 years and the digital inverter failed. Called Samsung for the repair expecting if it was the Motor that had failed Samsung would cover it since all their literature makes it sound like they have a great 10 year warranty on this. DON'T BE FOOLED!!! Samsung doesn't have a 10 year warranty on these in the USA. Looking at the fine print the warranty only covers heat pump dryers in Europe. This is the same for their new 20 year warranty. You basically have a 1 year warranty on everything here in the USA and these dryers don't last. STAY AWAY FROM THESE UNLESS YOU LIVE IN EUROPE!!
