Dual Refrigeration
Most refrigerators use one cooling system for both compartments, which forces a compromise: air dry enough for the freezer is too dry for produce. Sub-Zero uses two independent refrigeration systems, so the refrigerator gets cool, moist air while the freezer gets frigid, dry air. Produce stays crisp longer, frozen food is better protected from freezer burn, and odors do not transfer between compartments.

NASA-Inspired Air Purification
Fresh produce releases ethylene gas as it ripens, and in a sealed cabinet that gas accelerates spoilage across everything nearby. Sub-Zero’s air purification system, based on technology originally developed for NASA, scrubs the air of ethylene and odor every 20 minutes. The cartridge is replaced roughly once a year. Note that all-freezer and wine storage units do not include air purification — confirm which models do for your specification.

Precise Temperature and Humidity Control
A built-in microprocessor monitors and holds temperature closely rather than letting it drift between compressor cycles, and Designer Series models add the Split Climate® intelligent cooling system, which holds the refrigerator within one degree of setpoint. Magnetic door seals and soft-close hinges lock in both temperature and humidity every time the door shuts. Crisper and deli drawers sit in low-temperature, high-humidity zones.

Classic, Designer, and PRO Series
Classic is the original built-in Sub-Zero look, with its recognizable grille, offered in stainless or panel-ready. Designer is fully panel-ready and built to disappear into cabinetry, and it is the series with the widest range of configurations. PRO is stainless steel inside and out with a deliberately bold professional presence. The series decision is a design decision first — the preservation technology carries across all three.

Built to Last Decades
Sub-Zero tests components so that a unit can handle at least 20 years of everyday use, which is a different design target than most refrigeration is built to.
