Viking Cooktops & Rangetops at Plesser's Appliances
Viking cooktops and rangetops, available at Plesser's Appliances, drop into a countertop or install above a cabinet run, freeing the oven to sit at working height elsewhere. Offered in gas, induction, and electric configurations across a range of widths.
Cooktop vs. Rangetop
A cooktop drops into a countertop cutout and sits shallow, preserving usable drawer or cabinet space below. A rangetop is a deeper, taller unit with professional control depth and typically higher output, installed above a cabinet run rather than into a counter. This determines the cabinetry design, so settle it before millwork.
VariSimmer on Gas Models
Gas cooktops and rangetops carry VariSimmer, which holds a genuinely low, even flame on every surface burner rather than cycling. That low-end control is what separates a Viking surface from a conventional one as much as the high output does. Confirm burner count and both high and low output for your width.
Induction and Electric Options
Induction responds faster than gas, holds low settings without cycling, and wipes clean as a flat glass surface, but requires magnetic cookware and substantial dedicated 240V service. Electric radiant offers a flat surface at lower electrical demand and works with any cookware. Confirm element layout and any power-sharing between zones.
Rangetop Surface Configurations
Rangetops offer the deepest surface configuration choice, with griddle, grill, and specialty surface options in combination with burners on select widths, fixed at the factory. Because configuration cannot be changed later, this is an order-time decision. Confirm which combinations exist in your chosen width.
Cutout, Clearance, and Ventilation Planning
Cutout dimensions, countertop overhang, clearance to combustibles, and cabinet requirements below differ between cooktops and rangetops and between widths. Ventilation should be sized to surface output. Talk to the team at Plesser's Appliances about cutout specs, gas or electrical requirements, and hood sizing before the countertop is templated.
