Wolf Range Hoods at Plesser's Appliances

Wolf range hoods, available at Plesser's Appliances, are the ventilation half of a professional cooking installation — and on a high-output range, not an optional one. Built by Sub-Zero Group in Wisconsin, the lineup includes wall hoods, island hoods, downdrafts, and ventilation liners for custom enclosures, with blower options sized to the cooking surface below.

Sizing Ventilation to the Cooking Surface
Hood capacity has to be matched to the output of the range or rangetop beneath it, and professional burners produce far more heat, moisture, and grease-laden air than standard residential ones. Undersized ventilation is the most common failure in an otherwise well-specified kitchen — it shows up as lingering odor and grease film on cabinets. Ask about the recommended capacity for your specific cooking surface rather than working from hood width alone.

Wall, Island, and Liner Configurations
Wall hoods mount against a wall above the range; island hoods are finished on all sides for a cooktop in an island; ventilation liners install inside a custom hood enclosure built by your millworker so only the interior is Wolf. The liner route is what allows a hood to be finished in plaster, wood, or metal to match the room. Confirm the enclosure dimensions the liner requires before the surround is built.

Blower Options and Placement
Blowers may be internal to the hood, in-line within the duct run, or exterior-mounted, and placement affects both capacity and how much noise ends up in the kitchen. Moving the blower away from the hood is the most effective way to quiet a high-capacity installation. Blowers are frequently ordered separately from the hood — confirm what is included on your order.

Duct Routing and Make-Up Air
Effective ventilation depends as much on the duct run as the hood: duct diameter, length, and the number of elbows all reduce delivered capacity. High-capacity installations may also require a make-up air system to satisfy code, which is a mechanical scope item, not an appliance one. This needs to be worked out with your builder or HVAC contractor during design, not at installation.

Specification and Installation Planning
Mounting height above the cooking surface, hood width relative to the range, duct routing, electrical, and filter access all need to be settled before framing and cabinetry. Talk to the team at Plesser's Appliances about configuration, capacity, and blower selection alongside your range decision — the two should be specified together rather than sequentially.
