Wolf Rangetops at Plesser's Appliances

Wolf rangetops, available at Plesser's Appliances, are the professional cooking surface of a Wolf range without the oven beneath it. Built by Sub-Zero Group in Wisconsin, a rangetop delivers the deepest surface configuration options in the Wolf lineup — burners, charbroiler, griddle, and French top — installed above a cabinet run with the oven placed elsewhere in the kitchen.

Rangetop vs. Cooktop: The Key Distinction
A cooktop drops into a countertop cutout and sits shallow, preserving drawer space below. A rangetop is a deeper, taller unit with a raised surface, full professional control depth, and typically higher output and more configuration options — installed above a cabinet rather than into a countertop. This decision determines the cabinetry design, so settle it before millwork.

Dual-Stacked Sealed Burners
Wolf's dual-stacked design uses two tiers of burner ports so a single burner covers high-output searing and a low, stable simmer without cycling. On a rangetop, where burner output is typically at the top of Wolf's range, that low-end control is what keeps the surface usable for delicate work rather than only for high heat.

Charbroiler, Griddle, and French Top Options
Rangetops offer the widest surface configuration choice in the lineup. An infrared charbroiler changes what you can do with steaks and vegetables; an infrared griddle changes weekend breakfast; a French top gives you a graduated heat surface for holding and simmering. Available combinations depend on width and are fixed at the factory — this is an order-time decision.

Professional Appearance and Controls
The raised surface, heavy grates, and full-depth control panel with signature Wolf red knobs give a rangetop the unmistakable look of commercial equipment. Alternate knob finishes are available where red is not the design intent. In an open kitchen, this is a deliberate design statement rather than a concealed appliance.

Ventilation, Clearance, and Installation Planning
Rangetops produce high output and require ventilation sized to that output, adequate clearance to combustibles and to any wall behind, and a cabinet run built to the unit's specific dimensions. A charbroiler in particular raises ventilation requirements. Talk to the team at Plesser's Appliances about width, surface configuration, gas supply, and hood capacity together — the rangetop and hood should be specified as one decision.
